As a materials engineer on Expoint, you will join a specialized team of industry experts helping to develop innovative products and solutions. You will be responsible for researching, designing, and developing new materials, as well as maintaining and improving existing materials. This includes studying the physical, chemical, and mechanical properties of materials to determine ways to improve them, as well as finding ways to reduce production costs.
You’ll use an assortment of methods to test, measure, and analyze properties of materials, such as optical microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, electrical testing, and stress testing. Your data analysis must be accurate and precise, so you’ll need to be adept at mathematics, statistics, and problem-solving. You’ll also need to be creative, as you’ll often have to create new solutions or strategies to meet program objectives and engineering specifications.
In addition to your skills in research and development, you’ll need to be able to effectively collaborate with other experts, from other technical and engineering backgrounds.
